Investment in renewable energy recognised by The Green Organisation

Use of renewable energy to power our units is an important part of our business. Serious investment has been made in developing products that drastically reduce the burning of fossil fuels, helping to foster a cleaner environment.

We have placed carbon emission reduction; lower fuel costs and empowering the use of renewable energy at the heart of Unisex Solar Hybrid Toilet.

Our efforts have now been formally recognised by one of the leading environmental campaigners, The Green Organisation, with the Unisex Solar Hybrid Toilet winning a Green Apple award.

The Unisex Solar Hybrid Toilet is a combined male and female toilet system that is designed for use on construction sites. The female area features a low flush eco toilet with a 400 litre waste tank. The male compartment also has low flush eco toilet and a 1200mm waterless urinal with a 1200mm stainless steel wash trough with two warm water taps. Both female and male users of the Unisex Solar Hybrid Toilet benefit from warm water supplied by on-board heating system, 12V LED lighting with PIR, liquid soap and paper towel dispenser.

Uniquely, the Unisex Solar Hybrid Toilet is powered by a combination of highly efficient 130amp power AGM battery, which is charged via an intelligent solar power system with a built in controller. The complete system is backed up by an on-board super-silenced generator, which ensures that the most cost-effective and energy efficient power supply is maintained, even when it is unmanned.

Considerate Constructors Rating Retained

Genquip-Groundhog are pleased to announce that the Considerate Constructors Scheme have completed their annual assessment of the Groundhog Facilities and awarded a 4.5 star rating. The rating (based on a score of 43/50) takes into consideration how companies:

  • Care about appearance
  • Respect the community
  • Protect the environment
  • Secure everyone’s safety
  • Value their workforce

The Scheme noted “The advent of Covid-19 has significantly changed working practices and the public interface, particularly within a factory environment, however, exceptional measures have been introduced in conjunction with the company’s Covid-19 policy towards safeguarding all persons via social distancing, segregated pedestrian routes, temperature checks, face mask requirement, staggered break times and an emphasis to follow local government guidelines in suppressing potential infections.”

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image. Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme recognises the valuable and vital contribution made by companies supplying goods and materials to sites. Suppliers perform a vital role in the construction process, and equally, they have a responsibility to behave in a considerate manner at all times to ensure they portray a positive image of the industry they represent.

Executive Hire Show 2020

Genquip-Groundhog enjoyed a hugely vibrant show at the Ricoh Arena, with many Hire visitors on our stand expressing the need for high quality, robust and easy to use welfare units.

Invaluable feedback was that our range certainly met these requirements and our ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions on site was welcomed by all visitors to the show.

We are looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead and already we are looking at improving product offering ready for the 2021 show!

Launched in 2007, the Executive Hire Show has become one of the biggest national exhibitions for the tools, equipment and plant hire industry. The show brings the industry together and is the annual event where Passionate Hirers Meet Innovative Suppliers. The Show is a trade-only event open to hire executives throughout the UK and Ireland, and it has also attracted hire industry visitors from Europe and beyond. Senior executives from the procurement and purchasing departments of the national hire operations attend the Show, along with large numbers of independently-owned entrepreneurial hire outlets. At this year’s Show, 86% of visitors were from independent hire companies.

A big thank you to everyone who visited us at the show, it was fantastic meeting you all.
