Groundhog

Do you have GH0001?

Can you help us find our first ever GP360 mobile unit, GH0001? Manufactured in 1987 this "mobile messroom" as it was decsribed in our period leaflet, was delivered to the London Burrough of Hillingdon, to provide staff welfare facilities for park maintenance crews. Finished In a fetching electric blue colour, it was a standout alternative to the limited welfare options available at the time.

GH0001 was a brand new concept, with the mobile unit having all facilities powered by gas. The main feature of the new Groundhog was the patented ground lowering system that enabled the user to tow the welfare unit to site and lower securely into position, literally hogging the ground, hence the name Groundhog.

Now almost 40 years later we realise it may have been used, abused and subsequently recycled into something containing baked beans, but we believe its near indestructible steel frame and durable welfare facilities are still in use somewhere in Greater London or beyond, thanks to its easy to tow mobility.

As well as seeing the release of the first groundhog unit, 1987 was a notable year in the UK, marked by the Black Monday stock market crash and a third consecutive election victory for Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative Party.

The entertainment scene saw the rise of acid house music and the burgeoning rave culture, U2's "The Joshua Tree," George Michael's "Faith," and Michael Jackson's "Bad," while "The Simpsons" debuted on British TV. Celebrity highlights included the friendship between Elton John and Princess Diana, and Kylie Minogue's hit single "I Should Be So Lucky."

In the fortunate circumstance that we should be so lucky to "find" GH0001 again, we'd like to offer a brand new GP360D in exchange for it. There’s no catch, we'd love to showcase it in our new office and training facility opening this summer!!
